WHAT IS PRP?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. It is prepared from a small amount of your own blood using a specialized PRP tube that helps separate and concentrate the platelet-rich portion. Platelets are best known for helping your blood clot, but they do much more than that — they carry growth factors and other components that help boost the body’s normal regenerative response. 

WHY IS PRP USED IN REGENERATIVE MEDICINE?

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

  1. Your provider draws a small amount of blood using a specialized PRP tube.

  2. Your sample is processed using a centrifuge, which takes about 10 minutes.

  3. Once your PRP is ready, your provider will use it as part of your personalized treatment plan to enhance repair and regeneration.

ARE PRP TREATMENTS SAFE?

Because PRP treatment comes from your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction or immune rejection is generally low.   You may experience temporary discomfort, bruising, or tenderness from the blood draw — and if your provider injects PRP as part of your treatment, similar effects can occur at the treatment site.
